July also had a big opportunity waiting for me. If you follow me on my social media you know that I have a exhibit coming later this year. The first exhibit I planned on hosting was cancelled, due to not having the proper funds for a venue. However, I received an email from The Art Council Director of Fitzgerald who reached out to me to host an exhibit. Not only will this be my first exhibit but I’ll be the First African American Female Photographer to display their work at the Art Council Center. I’ve been working hard to put my brand out there and my work for the world to see. So this really made my month.
Not only did I get an offer but I also offered a collaboration to two photographers this month. I participated in a wedding and I knew I couldn’t do it alone, the outcome was amazing. I collaborated with two female photographers and it was awesome. That was my first time collaborating with other photographers and working a long side with someone.
Even though July brought some success it also brought some negativity and let downs. Not knowing how to handle the work over load, this month has been hectic. I’ve been trying to better manage working a full time job and trying to do photography full time and it has brought a great deal of stress. I set certain goals for myself which I didn’t accomplish but I kept pushing.
I also posted the above quote on my Instagram which reached a lot of people. You have to watch what you place on your business social media accounts. Your clients will put two and two together especially if your just starting out and barely have any followings. And this will turn them away. Don’t use your business platform as a personal one. I use my business social media to promote my work and brag on myself not shed light on other people in a negative way. That’s how I’ve received my blessings.
Even though I’m not where I want to be, I’m not where I use to be. For this I am thankful. I make sure to always put God First and work hard towards my monthly goals.
What are some of your goals? What did July bring to the table for you? Let me know on my social media’s or in the comment section, I’d love to hear from you.
