MY STORY

"I am a woman with a camera, plan and faith"
Picture

Kamia McWilliams

I am the owner and photographer of Kamia Portraits and the author of Aisha: She Who Lives. When I was 14 years old, I started showing interest in photography and every since then I told myself that I would be a professional photographer. I started my business in November of 2016 while attending Darton State College studying Early Childhood Education. After taking a break from school, I began focusing on my passion (photography). A year after having my business I hosted a Women's Business Expo that helped my business get more exposure from it's success. Coming into my second year, I collaborated with another business owner and started a non-profit organization called "Busy Business Women". I currently serve as the co-founder/ vice president in the group. I've since started a online support group with a business partner named "Magenta Healing & Loving" which is a support group for women who battles with mental health illnesses.

I offer different sessions for my clients to choose from, each are set at affordable prices. I do not consider myself a normal photographer. I am original and I use photography to express raw emotions through art while also making memories that will last a life time. Each client that I've came in contact with, I make sure to communicate, provide a comfortable environment and execute any ideas that they may have.

As a photographer I've faced many challenges but I've continued to push. I am an aspiring author, blogger and mentor. There are different projects and goals that I am working towards. I do have dreams of publishing my work in a photography magazine or beauty magazine. If I could work with any photographer it would be Prince Mayson. If I could give new photographers any tip it would be: Don't focus on competing, because when you focus on competing you'll be focusing on your opponents success instead of working towards your own.

I've worked with so many different people, I've traveled and experienced a lot! I don't consider myself the best photographer (right now) but I am different, unique and original.
