Why do different photographers have different prices?

This is a very common question that many clients and customers have, and most photographers find answering this question to be either uncomfortable or unnecessary. However, I believe that this should be the first question you ask your photographer before you book, and their response should determine if you'd like to work with them or not.

What photography isn't...

Photography is no longer a consumer product. With the evolution of technology, smart phones and your ability to purchase a camera almost anywhere, photography is now a luxury product. Meaning, it's not a nicety, it's a service or product that you desire, and many photographers set their prices around this understanding.

Different photographers, different prices, Why?

Every photographer has something different to offer. For us, we offer our clients with not a photography session but an experience, we have gowns, provide backdrops and other amazing services. So, depending on the photographer you book, they too will have different value to add to your needs. In addition to this, we all have different expertise, experience, style and creative eyes. Yes, you can attempt to recreate other photographers work with another photographer, but it doesn't beat going to the original photographer to experience fully what they have to offer.

With that being said, photographers don't have the same prices and offer the same experiences and value because we're all different. Before booking with a photographer, I want to encourage you to book a consultation with them and see why they charge what they charge for their art and time. And remember photography is a luxury, not a consumer product.
